Why choose Montessori?

Writer: Cheryl KruckebergCheryl Kruckeberg

"The education of even a small child, does not aim at preparing them for school, but for life" ~Marie Montessori

We know that... Every child is unique - yet our standard education system teaches as if all children are the same. Children cannot be taught in the same way – yet, the teachers in our standard education system teach the whole class as a group and children are expected to learn the same way and at the same time irrespective of individual differences.

Children are much smarter than we were at their age. They are a whiz at computers and are capable of understanding complex concepts at an early age. Yet, our standard education system has not changed much in the last 100 years.

Research shows that Montessori works wonderfully with children. Montessori is a hands-on education approach that allows self-expression and collaborative play. Pediatric Neuropsychologist Steve Hughes says that the Montessori method maximizes critical parts of the brain, allowing children to become successful and happy in their later school and life. Children get a competitive edge when they start schooling in Montessori schools. On average, they excel at reading, writing, and communicating. The Montessori system allows children to make creative choices, thus sharpening their creative intelligence. Montessori helps children develop independence and good self-confidence. The Montessori environment is beautifully organized and invites respect for the materials and others. This brings about a sense of peace and joy for learning.

Research shows: Children from Montessori schools do far better in their school years and life when compared to other children. Montessori children develop great decision-making, negotiation, and communication skills, which are highly valued and rewarded in all business environments. With the Montessori method, children: ✔ Learn to respect the environment, themselves, and others. ✔ Develop a joy for learning. ✔ Build confidence and good self-esteem. ✔ Develop fine and gross motor skills. ✔ Develop good concentration. These skills are highly valued in the real world, and the Montessori education system prepares them far better than our standard education system.
